Spore™ Troubleshooting Tips

Spore keeps crashing!

If Spore™ crashes it is typically in the Space Stage. You see your screen start to flicker and that's all she wrote. This would happen to me quite often and to a brand new computer with a GeForce 9800 series graphics card to boot. This would leave no other option but to manually shutdown the PC losing all data not saved.

First things first, except for in planet view, I found you can save the game by pressing Control + S. Give that a shot before shutting down the PC and losing all your game play data. I can't promise that this will work but last time it happened to me it did save my game right where I left off. I was sooooo glad.

The cause of this problem was the need to update my graphics card's driver. I fixed this flickering freezing problem by going to the Nvidia website and using the automatic driver updater. It searched my PC, found the driver I needed and installed it. Actually one of the easiest driver updates I have ever done. Thanks Nvidia!
